Berklee Turkish Ensemble
Berklee Turkish Ensemble (BTE) explores the rich and diverse repertoire of Turkish traditional and fusion music, featuring pieces by the most renowned Turkish composers throughout the history, alongside original compositions by Berklee’s own Turkish faculty and students. The course offers students the opportunity to experience traditional and contemporary Turkish music in a dynamic setting, with a focus on performance, cultural understanding, and collaboration. In addition to regular ensemble practice, students will have the unique opportunity to perform live with world-renowned guest artists as part of the artist-in-residence program. These guest artists will bring their expertise and artistry to the ensemble, offering firsthand insight into the depth of Turkish music. Students will study the harmonic, melodic, rhythmic, and characteristic elements that define Turkish music, while also developing their improvisational skills, composition, arrangement, and creative expression. The ensemble emphasizes stylistic integrity, precision, and the fusion of tradition with modern influences, providing an enriching environment for both performers and composers alike.
