Description

This ensemble will learn and perform the timeless music of women country icons of the mid to late 20th century, such as Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and related artists with the purpose of studying their narrative writing, melodic vocal stylings, and acoustic instrumentations. Students will participate in weekly supervised rehearsals, and repertoire will be learned both by ear and by chart. Lead sheet writing skills are required. This course emphasizes stylistic integrity and melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic accuracy.
