Audio Principles

Description

This course introduces audio fundamentals in theory and practice. Topics include home/project studio system setup and interconnections; computer fluency; the installation, licensing, and maintenance of computer software; file handling and asset management in the modern DAW; fundamentals of electricity and principles of audio electronics; the decibel scale; metering; core concepts in analog and digital audio; signal flow and gain staging; microphone, headphone, and loudspeaker principles and applications; control surfaces; remote collaboration; and audio restoration. Class meetings consist of lectures and demonstrations.
