María Victoria Gonzalez

María Victoria Gonzalez is a Venezuelan singer, harpist, and composer making history as the first female cuatro player and harpist from Venezuela to study at Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition scholarship. Hailing from San Juan de los Morros, Guárico, she is also the first student from her state to attend Berklee, where she is currently in her senior year pursuing a bachelor’s degree in contemporary writing and production and musical theater writing.

Gonzalez previously studied classical voice at the Simón Bolívar National Conservatory and voice performance with a specialization in Venezuelan traditional music at the National University of the Arts in Venezuela. From 2016 to 2021, she served as a harpist and singer for the Alma Llanera Orchestra of Venezuela, representing her country at the United Nations in Vienna in 2018 and mentoring young musicians across the nation.

She is the recipient of multiple international awards, including first place in the French Alliance Sing in French competition (2020) and the International Festival Le Voy a mi Tierra (2020), using her winnings to support her education. Passionate about music education and social impact, she founded the Music as a Service project to teach music to children in her community. She has also been honored as a Youth Ambassador of Venezuela in the US and a Goodwill Ambassador of Arkansas since 2017.

Currently, Gonzalez works as a peer trainer at Berklee’s Creative Technology Center, where she assists students and faculty with music composition and production software. In December 2025, she plans to relocate to Miami and is actively seeking professional opportunities in the area. She continues to perform, compose, and advocate for Venezuelan traditional and contemporary music on the global stage.
