Megan Hines is an art historian and curator with a focus on contemporary art of the United States. Before coming to Berklee, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Millsaps College and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, MS. Her research explores connections between media and performance art and evolving conceptions of life, identity, and community in the age of biotechnology.
She has published in peer-reviewed journals including American Art and Media-N: Journal of the New Media Caucus and her curatorial work at the Mississippi Museum of Art was featured in The New York Times. Hines has presented her research at conferences in the United States and Europe, including the College Art Association (CAA) and Re:SOUND: 8th International Conference on Media Art, Science, and Technology. She is currently working on transforming her dissertation, “Art and Biotech: Bay Area Networks, 1965-85,” into a book manuscript.
