Live

Course Number
MB-621
Description

In this course, students analyze the current realities and evolution of the global live music business, with various reports estimating the market size between approximately $34.8 billion (2024) and $79.7 billion (by 2030, Goldman Sachs). This analysis of the live music industry contextualizes the relationship and power structures among the main stakeholders, from the audience to multi-national promoters. Students examine and evaluate the role of “Live” in developing artists’ musical careers, as well as the expansion of niche markets, including the global festival market. They will also develop an understanding of the scale of events from a smaller concert through to the workings of festivals in arenas. In learning the specific areas of programming, booking, marketing, events management, tech production and more, students will plan and stage their own live events as well as learning from reputable promoters and festivals.
