Multi-award–winning pianist, composer, and educator Hey Rim Jeon presents her annual faculty concert featuring Grammy- and Latin Grammy Award–winning drummer Mark Walker from the Percussion Department, along with Bass Department faculty member Ciara Moser, whose debut album, Blind. So What?, was recently released. Following Jeon’s recent sold-out concert at Boston’s Scullers Jazz Club and her resounding success at GBH Jazz Night, this is a concert you won’t want to miss.
Hey Rim Jeon has been serving as a professor in the Piano Department at Berklee since 2010, and was a recipient of Berklee's prestigious Exemplary Faculty Awards in 2021. Described as a “brilliant pianist” by the late, legendary saxophonist Benny Golson, the Seoul-born, Boston- and NYC-based jazz practitioner has performed extensively across the globe for more than two decades. She has been featured on NBC’s Weekend Today in New York and KBN, Korea’s national TV network. Her album Mona Lisa Puzzle was described as an "intense, intelligent statement" by Bill Milkowski of JazzTimes, won Best Jazz Album at the 2009 New England Urban Music Awards, and was listed on CD Baby's Top 10 Modern Creative Jazz Albums. Her latest album, Groovitude, featuring Grammy Award–winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and other acclaimed Berklee faculty members, soared to no. 14 on the JazzWeek National Radio Chart and remained in the top 20 for several consecutive weeks.
