The Music of Resistance

The history of American Music is closely intertwined with the history of social change. From African American spirituals that contained coded messages of freedom, to protest songs that powered the civil rights, women's liberation, and LGBTQ+ movements, music has spoken truth to power and galvanized people to fight for peace and justice. This music crosses all genres and addresses many themes.
Directed by Associate Professor Celia Slattery, the concert will feature a diverse group of singers from the Voice Department faculty, along with special guest instrumentalists from across the college.
