Online auditions and interviews for the Bachelor of Music program include the exact same components as an in-person audition, with admission and scholarship considerations weighted equally. These events are completed from the comfort of your own space using Zoom. You’ll complete both your audition and interview through a live video chat with Berklee faculty and staff members. Requirements for an Online Audition and Interview
There are a few technology and space requirements to complete your audition and interview online, which you can learn more about below. To be scheduled for an online audition and interview, you must select "Online" as your first location preference in your application form.
Internet Speed Recommendations
After you submit your application form, we suggest that you complete an internet speed test to check the strength of your connection.
When checking your internet speed, first manually type in the location and connect to a server in or near Boston, Massachusetts. We recommend using a direct ethernet connection as opposed to a wireless connection. Below are our recommended minimum download and upload speeds to help ensure a smooth online audition and interview:
- Download: 2.6 mbps
- Upload: 1.8 mbps
Test your internet connection
At-Home Audition Room Requirements
You must have access to:
- a private room without interruption (no one else should be present in the room other than an accompanist, if necessary);
- a computer with an internet connection and audio/video capability (a computer/laptop with built-in audio/video is preferred);
- Supported Operating Systems
- macOS X with macOS X (10.11) or later (recommended)
- Windows 11 (recommended)
- Windows 10: Must run Windows 10 Home, Pro, or Enterprise. S Mode is not supported.
- Recommended Processor, RAM, and CPU bit
- Quad-core 2.5Ghz or higher processor
- 16 GB of RAM
- 64 CPU bit
- headphones with a built-in microphone; and
- all instruments and accompaniment needed to participate (the accompanist should exit the room after the prepared piece).
