Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.

My entire Berklee experience has been amazing so far! I have met so many talented and kind people who not only motivate me to grow but also inspire me to keep going when things get tough. My favorite experience has to be performing at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Spain, where I did the study abroad program at Berklee Valencia. It was great because I got to work with a very diverse group of people both culturally and professionally, and it showed me that no matter where you are geographically, the Berklee community is just as vibrant and holistic everywhere!

When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?

I have two favorite classes so far, one being the Survey of Vocal Styles class with Marcelle Gauvin, which challenged me vocally every single week to learn and perform music that is completely out of my comfort zone, which I really enjoyed! The second one is Tour Personnel with Jonathan Bricker, which is part of the BPMI Live Music minor. I loved getting to learn about the various roles and professions of people involved in the business of touring and, as an artist myself, it not only helped me gain perspective on how I can build a trustworthy team around me but also on how I can become someone other artists can lean on depending on what I pursue in the future.

What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?

Boston is incredibly diverse, and I love that there is something for everyone! There is so much beautiful nature all around, and the history and art that surround the city always bring me joy. Studying in Boston, specifically as a music student, is so unique as well because you can always find like-minded and creative people in other communities or schools where you can exchange artistic ideas and learn a lot from.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music/Boston Conservatory at Berklee?

I would definitely tell them to be as open-minded as possible! Berklee not only offers a myriad of majors and minors but also so many experiences that you will remember forever. That being said, you often have to create those experiences yourself, and you never know who you are going to meet and perform or create with. You should try to explore everything while also keeping your mental and physical health in check and also while growing on your own.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

I recently have been enjoying going to Melo, which is a smoothie and acai place on Boylston Street that Berklee is affiliated with. Not only does it have great food, but it also has a quiet area where you can study and relax, not to mention it is very close to the Boston Public Library, which is gorgeous!

Why did you choose Berklee?

I chose Berklee because I could not picture myself in a better place that combined all of my nuanced interests. Berklee has not only given me the opportunity to perform in diverse venues, but it has also motivated me to explore areas that I may not be as familiar with. Additionally, as someone doing two majors and two minors, I always knew that Berklee would be able to cater to my various interests while also offering the opportunity to meet so many talented people!

What are your plans for after graduation?

I would love to pursue a master's in either the music industry or in business management. It has also been a dream of mine to work in music in Los Angeles, and while I am keeping my options open, that is something I aspire to do!

What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you've been involved in at Berklee?

I have loved meeting the people involved in the shows, whether it has been as a performer or as someone working behind the scenes. Additionally, learning about the different levels and stages of people's lives and professions really helped me gain perspective on mine and how grateful I am to be where I am!

Where do you hope to perform this coming year?

I hope to perform at the Berklee Performance Center or the Brighton Music Hall! I have seen multiple shows at both, and they are both amazing venues for live music events that I would love to be a part of soon.
