My favorite Berklee experience has been hearing an orchestra perform and record one of my compositions. I was able to collaborate with the conductor and players to bring my vision to life, and it was incredible to hear my music performed by such talented musicians.
When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?
My favorite class has been Brazilian Bass Lab. I loved learning about new genres and different grooves, and it really transformed my approach to playing bass. The class opened my eyes to a whole new world of musical possibilities.
What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?
My favorite part about studying and living in Boston is how the city supports real-world application of music. You can gig and record around the city, and I'm constantly inspired by seeing my peers doing live work and pursuing their musical careers.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music/Boston Conservatory at Berklee?
I would advise them to highlight their originality and take creative risks in their application and audition. Berklee values students who bring unique perspectives and aren't afraid to showcase their individual artistic voice.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the studios. That's where the real learning happens in terms of production and recording, and it's where I feel most connected to the music-making process.
Why did you choose Berklee?
I chose Berklee because I wanted to grow in all areas of music: performance, composition, production, and engineering. The school offers a comprehensive and professionally challenging environment that I knew would push me to reach my full potential.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to focus on releasing my own music while gaining more industry experience. I want to work in studios and collaborate with other artists to continue developing my skills and building my career.
What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you've been involved in at Berklee?
As a bass work-study student, I've been inspired by working backstage with such high-level performers. It's given me a unique perspective on what it takes to create professional-quality shows and performances.
Where do you hope to perform this coming year?
I hope to perform at the Caf on campus, and I'm also looking forward to doing more shows outside of Boston to expand my performance experience and reach new audiences.
