Berk Recital Hall

The Lee and Alma Berk Recital Hall is located on the ground floor at the 1140 Boylston Street building. It was named in honor of Berklee's founder Lawrence Berk and his wife Alma. The venue hosts hundreds of events each year, including faculty concerts, senior concerts, and visiting artist clinics and master classes. Events are free and open to the public, giving the Boston community an opportunity to hear the rich and diverse talent that resides on campus.

Dr. Karen Walwyn will speak on composer Florence Price, the first female African American classical composer to gain national recognition. Price's music was lost for over 30 years and was rediscovered in her abandoned home in 2009. Walwyn was the first to premiere the Concerto in One Movement for Piano with Orchestra and is a sought-after interpreter and scholar for lectures and recitals on Price across the country. There will be a Q&A after the lecture.
