Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.
My favorite Berklee experience so far was definitely the night of my Caf show, after months of developing my personal project, a fusion of jazz with Afro-Peruvian music and smooth jazz. I put in an enormous amount of effort to make it happen.
When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?
The Harmony classes are definitively my favorite. I enjoy exploring and comparing how I can apply all the knowledge I get from them in my performance and my composition projects.
What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?
I love the fact that Boston is one of the safest cities in the US, and it's also super clean! I also love that there are so many students here from universities all over the world.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music/Boston Conservatory at Berklee?
For the audition, try to perform music that represents your roots, or even better, perform one of your own compositions. This will make you stand out from other applicants.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
160 Mass. Ave., in the lobby and especially the two-floor cafeteria. I also love Studios 1 and 2 in the same building, since I've been recording there with many big bands and different ensembles.
Why did you choose Berklee?
Since I was a child, I've been looking up to so many artists who studied at Berklee. It has always been a dream of mine to join this incredible, global and super open community.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to tour around South America, Europe, and the US with my band. Also, I'd like to open a restaurant with live jazz fusion music in Lima, Peru.
What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you've been involved in at Berklee?
The connection with the audience is absolutely incredible. Also, I love the fact that I can expose them to new music and they can truly appreciate it.
Where do you hope to perform this coming year?
I hope to perform at the BPC with my own solo show! I also hope to perform at different theaters in Peru with my full cast of musicians and dancers.
