Addiction Recovery and Healing

Transforming recovery through music therapy and community music experiences

Addiction recovery is a complex and deeply personal process—often complicated by trauma, mental health challenges, stigma, and a lack of accessible, individualized care.

At Berklee’s Music and Health Institute, we’re advancing music-based approaches that support individuals throughout the full continuum of recovery—from medically supervised detox to long-term community reintegration.

Grounded in research and lived experience, our work integrates clinical music therapy and community music experiences that foster emotional regulation, reduce cravings, and help people rebuild identity and motivation for change.

We partner with organizations to co-create programs rooted in empowerment, dignity, and accessibility—where music becomes a tool for reclaiming joy, agency, and purpose.
