Innovation
Designing the future of music, health, and human experience

At the Music and Health Institute’s Innovation Studio, we help shape the future of the innovation economy through music. Our work blends creative thinking, research translation, and human-centered design to bring bold ideas to life—co-developed with healthcare leaders, entrepreneurs, technologists, and students.
We specialize in transforming clinical insights and research evidence into music-driven products, experiences, and tools that improve health outcomes and create market value. From immersive wellness offerings and digital therapeutics to public health campaigns and care-enhancing technologies, we create solutions that are grounded in need and built for real people.
Our studio serves as a creative catalyst for those working at the intersection of health, creativity, and commerce—where business innovation meets cultural change.

Featured Projects
A collaboration between the Berklee Music and Health Institute, Nicorette, and Spotify, SmokeLess Beat Breaks is a first-of-its-kind public health campaign that uses the science of music therapy to support smoking cessation. The project delivers a personalized music listening experience designed to promote healthier break habits. By combining behavioral health insights with culturally relevant music experiences, this initiative engages users in a creative, empowering approach to behavior change.
In partnership with MilliporeSigma and MIT Hacking Medicine, this innovation initiative brought together students and professionals from music, healthcare, and technology to develop scalable solutions to pressing health challenges. The program included an incubation phase, expert mentorship, and pitch sessions, culminating in a final presentation at Boston’s HUBweek. Finalists received $60,000 in seed funding to bring their ideas to life—including one winning team awarded $30,000 to develop a music-and-health technology product aimed at improving real-world health outcomes.
