Community Programs
Co-creating music-based solutions with and for communities
At the Music and Health Institute, community is not a destination—it’s a starting point. We work in partnership with organizations, cultural leaders, and individuals to design and implement music-based programs that respond to real needs, uplift lived experience, and foster health and well-being at every stage of life.
Our community work blends academic excellence with human-centered practice. From addiction recovery and re-entry programs to creative aging and youth mental health, we collaborate closely with our partners to translate research into programs that are accessible, culturally relevant, and built to last.
Whether facilitating peer-led jam bands in recovery centers or co-developing music strategies for trauma-informed schools, we listen, learn, and lead—together.
Partnering with peer recovery centers, harm reduction programs, and treatment teams to support resilience, expression, and emotional regulation through music.
Supporting re-entry and reintegration through collaborative music experiences that foster identity, connection, and skill-building with youth, adults, and returning citizens.
Creating inclusive, engaging music programs that support memory, movement, social connection, and meaning for older adults in care communities and at home.
Working with schools, youth workers, and families to bring trauma-informed, music-based support to adolescents navigating stress, identity, and emotional well-being.
We welcome partnerships with clinicians, educators, advocates, funders, and artists who share our vision of music as a resource for collective health.
