Community Reintegration and Justice-Involved Populations

Rebuilding connection, purpose, and community through music

Re-entering society after incarceration is more than a transition—it’s a chance to reconnect with self, build healthy relationships, and find new purpose. At the Music and Health Institute, we use music therapy–informed and community music–driven experiences to support justice-involved individuals across the lifespan as they navigate this powerful journey.

Through these experiences, participants:

Process trauma and strengthen emotional regulation and impulse control.
Reconnect with personal identity, values, and self-expression.
Explore music as a tool for self-care, reflection, and personal growth.
Build trust, empathy, and healthy social bonds.

We collaborate with reentry programs, correctional institutions, behavioral health providers, and community-based organizations to co-design music-based initiatives that are inclusive, restorative, and responsive. Whether in transitional housing, recovery settings, or neighborhood hubs, these programs offer meaningful opportunities for healing, growth, and reconnection.

Let’s build a more connected and restorative future—through music, together.
